Overview
Hi, I’m Sudha The Mallard has been part of our family for years now, and she’s taken us to some of the most beautiful corners of Colorado — quiet mornings outside Steamboat, that perfect site at Rocky Mountain National Park where elk wander through camp at dawn, sunset over the Sand Dunes. Now we’d love to share her with your family. She’s a 2017 Heartland Mallard M185 UltraLite, and at just 4,450 lbs fully loaded, she’s the kind of trailer that makes RVing actually fun instead of stressful. No diesel dually required — most half-ton pickups and a lot of capable SUVs can pull her without breaking a sweat. If this is your first time towing, don’t worry; I’ll walk you through everything. Who She’s Perfect For • Families with kids — the rear bunkhouse is a huge hit • Couples who want a real bed and a real shower after a day of hiking • First-time RVers — single axle, no slides, easy to set up • Anyone who wants the camping experience without sleeping on the ground She comfortably sleeps 5 adults: two in the front queen, two in the rear bunks, and one more on the convertible dinette. Layouts work great for a family of four or five, or two couples plus a kid. The Layout Front Bedroom A proper queen bed with a privacy curtain, side windows for the morning light, reading lamps, and overhead cabinets. Real mattress with comfortable bedding. Middle Living Area U-shaped dinette that fits four for card games or pancakes, and converts into a sleeping spot for one adult at night. Big window over the table with day/night shades. The swing-out Vizio TV works from the dinette or the bed — great for rainy afternoons or movie nights with the kids. Kitchen • 3-burner gas cooktop with range hood • Microwave • Double-basin sink with pull-down faucet • 8 cu ft fridge/freezer (runs on propane when boondocking or shore power at the campground) • Plenty of cabinet and drawer storage We cook real meals in here — green chile, pasta, French toast, the works. Full Bathroom • Shower with skylight and exhaust fan • Foot-flush toilet • Sink + mirrored medicine cabinet • Hot water from onboard heater Rear Bunkhouse Two bunks in the back with a small door to access storage as well as the lower bed. Adults fit fine in the lower bunk; upper bunk has a 200 lb capacity. What Makes Her Easy • Power tongue jack — no cranking by hand • Electric awning — one button and you’ve got shade • Single axle, no slides — fits in more campsites, never get stuck waiting for a slide motor • Roof A/C and ducted furnace — Colorado nights and Utah afternoons both handled • Dual 20-lb propane tanks — plenty of cooking and heating. One of them guaranteed to be full at the time of rental • Indoor + outdoor speakers — campsite vibes sorted • Vizio HDTV with Furrion stereo system Specs at a Glance Year/Make/Model 2017 Heartland Mallard M185 UltraLite Length ~22 ft (hitch to bumper), 19 ft box GVWR 4,450 lbs Sleeps 5 adults Slide-outs None Fresh / Gray / Black tanks ~30 / 30 / 30 gal Tow vehicle Half-ton truck or capable SUV (V6 minimum, brake controller required) Hitch 2" ball, weight-distributing hitch included
