Overview
The Turquoise Palace is your basecamp on the playa. You've got your ticket. You've got your costume. What you need is a real bed, a cold fridge, a working shower, and 86 gallons of fresh water waiting for you when you stumble home at 4am. That's exactly what this rig delivers — staged in the Sierra Nevada, roughly 3 hours from the gate. The Vibe This trailer earns its name. Step inside and you're in a world of turquoise — original art on the walls, a full matched set of turquoise dishes, cups, and cooking utensils, turquoise bath towels, hand towels, sheets, and blankets. It's cohesive, warm, and distinctly not a beige rental box. The cherry wood cabinetry makes it feel like a real space. The turquoise makes it feel like yours. One note: please keep all dishware, cookware, linens, and art inside the trailer. The kit is part of what makes this place special — help keep the vibe intact for your crew and the next travelers. The Layout •2012 Jayco Jay Flight 24FBS — rear-living travel trailer with one slideout •Sofa and living area right at the entry — your decomp zone after a long night •Full galley kitchen in the middle, and full bathroom in the rear •Private queen bedroom at the front — curtain closes, completely separated from the living space •The slideout opens the rear living area into a genuinely comfortable lounge Sleeping •Queen folding bed in the front bedroom — actual separation, actual rest •Sofa sleeper in the middle living area (best for shorter sleepers) •Booth dinette converts to a sleeping surface (~44" wide × 72" long — twin-ish, great for one, two small humans would be tight but is possible) •Sleeps 2-3 comfortably; workable for 4 with the right crew Comfort on the Playa The Black Rock Desert will test you. The Turquoise Palace will not. •Ducted 13,500 BTU air conditioning — ducted means it reaches the bedroom, not just the living area. When it's 105°F at noon and you need to sleep, this is the difference between functional and wrecked. NOTE: You will need a 4,000W+ generator to power the AC. Generator is NOT included in the rental. •86-gallon fresh water tank — one of the largest in this class. A couple or small conscientious group can go the full Burn without a freshwater resupply if you're thoughtful about usage. •Gray water tank: 32.5 gallons — this is your real limiting factor, not the fresh water. Even a couple of long showers can fill it up fast. We strongly recommend booking a playa pump service for both black and gray water tanks during your stay — they come to you. Plan your parking accordingly: keep the rear of the trailer accessible to a road at all times so pump trucks can reach the hookups. •Full bathroom with shower — real hot water, real toilet. Wet wipes are backup, not the plan. •Gas/electric water heater — propane hot water means no shore power required. •3-burner range with oven + microwave — cook actual food. Your body at day 5 will thank you. •Rich cherry wood cabinetry — warm and well-appointed. A space you want to be in, not just a box to survive in. About Your Host I'm BW — a naturalist, field guide, and forager based in North Lake Tahoe. I spend most of my time in the backcountry and I take gear seriously. This trailer is well-maintained and I'm reachable before and during your trip. Message me anytime. Playa Policies •Keep the trailer closed during dust storms — alkaline dust infiltrates fast and gets into everything •Do not open windows or roof vents at any time •No shoes inside — I'll provide shoe tubs and a large floor mat outside the door to keep dust down •Park with the rear of the trailer facing a road — essential for pump truck access •Return with tanks emptied and interior in reasonable shape •Optional add-on: black + gray water pump service coordinated for you when you return the vehicle — $250 Tow Vehicle Renter provides tow vehicle. Full-size pickup required (F-150, Ram 1500, Silverado, or equivalent). Unladen hitch weight is 630 lbs, trailer weight is around 5500... Add water, food, and gear and total trailer weight climbs significantly. Verify your truck's tow and payload ratings before booking (MINIMUM 7500 lbs GVWR). Getting There North Lake Tahoe to BRC is approximately 3 hours under normal conditions — closer than the Bay Area, a fraction of the drive from LA. Top off fuel and do your final grocery run in Reno. Stock up on water in Fernley or Wadsworth. Gerlach is your last stop before the gate — use it. Specs: 2012 Jayco Jay Flight 24FBS | 27 ft overall | GVWR 7,500 lbs | Sleeps up to 5 | 1 slideout | Full bath | 86-gal fresh water | 32.5-gal gray water | Black Rock City, Burning Man, playa, BRC 2026
