    Why People Visit:

Portland, also known as, "the Rose City" or "Rip City" for you basketball fans, is really a triple threat town. Not only do you have all that the city has to offer, but it is conveniently situated 1.5 hours from "The Mountain", Mount Hood, and all the forest has to offer, but you're also 1.5 hours from the Pacific coast and wine country is in between!

In town, Portland definitely knows how to "keep it weird" but you will find an endless array of wonderful restaurants and food carts offering all types of domestic and international cuisine. Portland is a craft beer mecca. Home to over 100 craft breweries in town, you can find a beer, or 10, to fit every palate. Biking is king, and a great option to get around to those breweries. Ample bike lanes and "bike highways" allow you to navigate the streets and bridges easily. Portland is home to Forest Park which offers 70 miles of forested trails in town. There are trails for all abilities and is close to the Zoo and the International Rose Test Garden. You will not have any trouble finding things to do for the entire family in Portland!  Book a vacation rental now to come explore all that Portland has to offer.

    Get There and Get Around:

Portland’s major international airport is Portland International Airport (PDX). The airport is located 9 miles northeast of downtown Portland and is conveniently connected to the city center via the MAX light-rail train. There are multiple options for getting into town. The light rail, taxis, shuttles, major rideshare companies, and car rentals all service the airport and can get you to your vacation rental.

Getting around town? Traffic is bad, every local will tell you that. But you can get around easily car-free! Use the light rail, the public streetcar (gets you around downtown), the metro bus, rideshare companies,  scooters, and easily rentable "Niketown" bikes are readily available to get you to and from the hot spots.

    What to Wear (The Weather):

May through August is typically mild to warm and generally dry (especially July and August), but the rumors are true, November through April is cool and rainy. A good rule of thumb is to always have a packable rain jacket. Locals don't use umbrellas but having one handy will save you from a damp situation. Also, most living spaces don't have central A/C, so if you visit in the summer, renting a vacation rental with an air conditioner is a good idea for out of towners!

    Accommodations:

In Portland, one-third of the almost 7,200 accommodation options are house rentals, Additionally, the average nightly price of house rentals is $225, and the median size is 1300ft². House rentals are perfect for larger groups, as most can accommodate 4-6 vacationers. Apartment rentals are the second most available accommodation option in Portland. The average price of apartment rentals is $150 a night for an area of approximately 700 ft².
